The first time...
... yesterday we experienced our first server downtime. For the first time in the history of TGS - Content Management we've got a 8 hours downtime. Its just a sporadical timeout, we thought, but after a few responses of customers and users we just knew that cant be a little problem with a self solving reason.
At saturday the 28th June in 2008, the domains and servers (including eMail) were not reachable. All users recieved the timeout message of their browsers and at this time, nobody knows whats happend. First suspicion was a failed raid or a defective controller but the server and its hardware was fine. After 7 o'clock a.m. (CET) another domain on our servers was been hacked by an invader who's located in china (region xinjiang). Thats could be determined by our admins on site.
TGS - Content Management wasnt the target of the attacks but anyhow we were impelled to take the servers offline for 8 hours. No harmful malware or bad processes were installed but in fact of a abnormal high traffic on a port which is formally used for the jabber server, we decided to reinstall the servers completly. The vulnerability was localized and repaired. In fact all our systems should working fine now, without any problems. The TGS - Content Management team says sorry for probably occured trouble.
